November 29-30, 2008 . This weekend has been quite fruitful for Ulla (Kalinka's Lora de Verdun) who was competing at NADAC sanctioned Agility trial in Calgary, Alberta . She qualified and came third both times in Elite Regular (which is, to some extent, similar to Masters Standard in AAC) and earned her title in this event, her first Elite title with NADAC. Ulla also got her second qualifying leg in Elite Chances , the event that tests dog's ability to work and follow directions at distance. As well,she got her first qualifying leg in Open Hoopers ( too bad they offered only one run of this event) | |||||||||||||||||||
| November 23 , 2008. Balzac, Alberta. NADAC sanctionned Agility trial hosted by Calgary Canine Centre. Ulla (Kalinka's Lora de Verdun) qualified in both of the Hoopers runs, came third in a class of more than twenty dogs, and earned her first Hoopers title (Hoopers is a relatively new event that has been introduced to NADAC Agility trials, but the rules have been changed three times already. The latest version suggests that a competing dog should alternate so-called non-test and test combinations in a certain order within a certain time alloted) | ||||||||||||||||||||

November 16 , 2008. These last two weekends we were competing in Calgary and Edmonton in AAC sanctioned Agility trials. Ulla's (Kalinka's Lora de Verdun) hard work was rewarded this time with the third title in Masters class- Masters Gamblers . She also earned two legs in Masters Jumpers class, the 4th leg in Masters Snookers, and the 11th leg in Masters Standard. |

September 27 , 2008. This weekend we travelled to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan , to compete in AAC trial hosted by D&S Dogs of Course club at Ebony Stables. The weather was warm enough, but extremely windy. The local crew had really hard time keeping the equipment steady and in the proper places. The judge even had to reject the tire as an obstacle as it kept flipping over. Nevertheless, Ulla (Kalinka's Lora de Verdun), as an experienced competitor, did really well and earned the third leg for the Masters Snookers Title. That is her second title in the Masters level with AAC. | |||||||||||||||||||

Jun 21 - 22, 2008, 2008 AAC Alberta/NWT Regional Dog Agility Championships Edmonton, Alberta. Hosted by Spectrum Speed Dogsports Club Officially sanctioned by The Agility Association of Canada and regulated by AAC Distingquished Judges: Phil Zacharatos (Kamloops, BC), Mary Zacharatos (Kamloops, BC) and Patti Wilson (Nanaimo, BC) Ulla (Kalinka's Lora de Verdun), participating in this two-day prestigious event, has accumulated 366.25 points and earned herself an invitational "ticket" to AAC National Competition to take place in New Brunswick. Neither above 35 degrees heat of the Saturday, nor the wall of rain on Sunday could stop our girl's determination to win. Ulla (Kalinkas Lora de Verdun) has earned the second Q in her favorite Hoopers and also earned a second Q and a second place in Elite Standard. Romi honoured the family with two Qs and a Title in Novice Standard(NAC), two Qs in Novice Jumpers NJC) and the second Q in Novice Chances (NCC). CH Furry Gunnar Siberian Star, August 27, 2003 - June 14, 2008 We all are well aware that our dog's lives are shorter than ours, but each time we get a dog we try really hard not to remember that, and deep in our hearts we all hope for miracles to happen. It is very sad when your best friend crosses the rainbow bridge leaving you here with a huge empty sore hole in your heart. It is more sorrowful when the beloved furry family member goes way before his time. Gunnar was supposed to turn only five this coming summer, but passed away last Saturday due to agressive form of cancer . 'He was such a happy boy all the time with a big waggy tail, always acting big and tough, but sweet and tender inside. He was such a character with the most special personality"'.We will always cherish the memories of him in our hearts. Our deepest condolences go to his owners Heidi and Philip Holmes. |

It tests the dog's ability to stay sharply focused on its owner during a speedy run and show the precision in following directions while leaded through a series of combinations of absolutely identical hoops.
