December 11-12, 2011 This weekend we've attended the NADAC fundraiser trial at Fez Dome in Calgary and tried the new games NADAC is offereing to competitors that include such components as tunnels, hoopes, gates and, of course, distance handling. Never did them before and weren't even aware about the rules. Ulla (Kalinka's Lora de Verdun) was the fastest to figure things out (a pro is a pro, always). The youngsters did not bad also, though both tried to jump the gate taking a shortcut. Well, that's what they were taught to do: jump the barrier... After the Games we participated in a regular trial as well. Ulla (Kalinka's Lora de Verdun) came first in Elite Hoopers . Zar (Zar Bazan) came second and qualified with the time 23.62 sec in Novice Hoopers . It's the second leg that he has earned towards the title in this event. Zora (Zlata Zorjana) came first and qualified with the time 23.41 sec (beating her brother by 0.21 sec) in Novice Hoopers . She also came first and qualified in Weavers , the event that consists of multiple weavepole sets 'diluted' by tunnels and jumps, with the time 37.20 /47.33. |

| November 19-20, 2011 CKC sanctionned Agility Trial at Cardiff, Alberta,hosted by Fort Saskatchewan And Area Canine Association. Winter has come to Alberta. Three days of a snowfall were followed by a significant drop in temperature. It was close to -30C this weekend, and, probably, even less at night. Many of the doggies seemed to become three-legged as the snow was really 'burning' their paws. Nevertheless, we had a very successful performance of our competing team. Zora (Zlata Zorjana) came first and earned the third qualifying leg, and the Title , in Intermediate Jumpers with Weaves ( AGIJS ) with the score 95 /100 and the time 38.65/44. She is going to compete in Excellent class of this event now. Zar (Zar Bazan) , in his turn, came second and Q-d in Novice Jumpers with Weaves ( AGNJS ) with the score 100 /100 and the time 38.68/41.He also came first twice and qualified both times with the scores 100/ 100 and 100/ 100 in Novice Standard (AGNS) with the times 49.88/68 and 66.65/71. |

| October 23,2011 This recent Sunday we have attended the NADAC sanctionned Agility trial hosted by Hot Diggity Dogs Agility Club in Red Deer, AB.The results are: Zar (Zar Bazan) - second place and Q in Novice Regular 3 (his first qualifying leg in this event) with the time 39.78 /44sec; Zora (Zlata Zorjana) - second place and Q in Novice Regular 4 (her first qualifying leg in this event) with the time 36.01/44sec; third place and a first Q in Open Tunnelers with the time 29.86 /33sec. Romi - first place and the Title in Elite Tunnelers with the time 24.66sec . |

| September 11, 2011 . NADAC sanctionned Agility trial hosted by It's A Dog's World Club. We were too busy through the summer with our AAC trials: competing at Regionals and working towards Ulla's Bronze Award and, therefore, missed all the fun of the NADAC trials as they happened to be on the same dates. Finally, we managed to squeeze into one and enjoy the freedom of a flow run. Our team participated in crazy Tunnelers runs and Hoopers and also did some Regulars. Zar (Zar Bazan) did really well on Regulars, but dropped one bar both times, and did not qualify at those. Nevertheles, in Novice Hoopers he came first and qualified with a time 31.31sec . His sister, Zora (Zlata Zorjana), came first and qualified in Novice Tunnelers with the time 33.07sec . It was her third qualifying leg in this event, so she has earned her Title and moved to Open Tunnelers class. Our Master and pro Ulla (Kalinka's Lora de Verdun) ran Elite Hoopers in this trial. She qualified, came second and has beaten Romi, the Border, (who ran in the same class, but different division,qualified and came first there) by the time: 41.17 (Ulla)/ 42.84 (Romi). Oops! One should never underestimate the Veterans and get too relaxed in their presence! Veteran does not always mean just old. It could quite often mean experienced and skilled and knows how to win against the odds. |

July 31, 2011. AAC sanctionned Agility trial hosted by OC Agility in Edmonton. This trial became a milestone in Ulla (Kalinka's Lora de Verdun) agility career. Flipping the pages of her life into a second decade, she finally has completed all the requirements for the BRONZE AWARD OF MERIT , the award agility dogs work years and years for. An astonishing achievement for such a large and heavy dog. Everybody was amazed. Myself, I was extremely proud of my little girl. My little girl, oh well, accepted the congratulations gracefully, but was way more interested in playing the tag game, her favorite reward for a good run. Then treats, of course, but they usually go second. Ulla also came second and earned the last qualifying leg necessary for her title in MTRDC ( Masters Team Relay Dog of Canada). |

June 27, 2011, AAC Sanctioned Dog Agility Regional Championship Event, Calgary, AB Each summer we keep talking about how weird is the weather in Alberta. Never get tired of it as the surprises keep showing up. The weekend of the 2011 AAC Sanctioned Dog Agility Regional Championship Event was no different. Competitors have run their four-legged friends in Calgary through rain, shine, drizzle, heat, mud and darkness of approaching tornado (which at the very last moment, thank God, decided to hit and perform somewhere else). In addition to the weather related hardships, this year also some event regulations have been changed: for instance, time allotted for each run was cut approximately by 25%. The courses, themselves, were way more challenging than the previous years, especially for large dogs: a great number of very tight turns and closely placed obstacles, sharp angles to take, no room to align the bodies. There were many times when I wished I were able to fly and soar to avoid the collision with my 130-pound teammate, and there were couple of times when I have started to say my goodbyes expecting to be killed by her next tackle. Nevertheless, both of us, we survived and do well. And Ulla (Kalinka's Lora de Verdun) became the 2011 Qualifier of the AAC Regional Championship with 355.53 points earned, placing 13th in the DD Veteran class. It is the third time, when she did qualify for Nationals, out of the four Regionals she ever has competed in. That dog has determination, will power and stamina one can only dream about. Congratulations ULLA ! |
